Purchased new by Dr Hayward of Haslemere via Official Lotus Dealer Sports Motors Ltd, First registered on 23rd January 1969 and issued with the registration number JLG 6G, Maintained and used sparely over the next 27 years the Lotus was sold in November 1996 at circa 56,700 miles to Lotus enthusiast Dr Miller who lived in the US but kept the Elan in the UK in professional storage to enjoy during occasional visits to the UK when undertaking scientific research, After 17 years of Miller family ownership the Elan was sold at circa 65,100 miles to its 3rd custodian Mr Robbins of Chichester, In May 2014 the Elan was sold at circa 65,750 miles to Tunbridge wells resident Mr Penn who embarked on a detailed photographic restoration to its correct factory specification (Chassis, Body and Engine are the cars original) using specialists such as Classic & Modern Engine Services, QED, Paul Matty Lotus, Mick Miller Classic Lotus and Valoroso and consequently went on to win ‘Best in Show’ at the 2016 Lotus Festival at Brands Hatch
JLG 6G is complete with a comprehensive history going back some 40 years including Previous keeper records, Old MOT’s, Old tax discs, Letters of correspondence & sales receipt from 1st owner Dr Hayward to 2nd owner Dr Miller, Lotus Classic Certificate of Vehicle Provenance, Club Lotus Official Club Valuation Certificate and both a Classic Car weekly & Courier news article featuring JLG 6G reporting the Concours win at the Lotus Festival at Brands Hatch.
